Little Wesley decided to come a day before his due date. For several weeks I had been in contact with his mamma. She was joking about him never coming out. I get a text in the morning of Thursday, January 12th, a day before he was born… “2cm, Dr said I’m not miserable enough to have baby yet.” A little over 24 hours after getting that text, I get the text that she is heading out to the hospital. I get to the hospital just as they are getting out of triage. The atmosphere was calm when I walked in the room. Mamma was handling her contractions beautifully. She had spoken with her midwife and expressed that she wanted to labor in the tub, so her husband got the tub ready while the midwife stayed by mamma’s side. Shortly after getting into the tub, her doula arrived. There was laughter and smiles between contractions as she labored in the tub. It was time to check on baby, so mamma got hooked back up to monitors. She quickly realized that things had progressed quite a bit and she was starting to feel pushy. She had so much support in that room. They all helped her get comfortable in bed and ready to push her baby out. It did not take long before she had her baby in her arms. Mamma did such an amazing job. Such perfect timing Wesley had, too! Dad had put their oldest son (2 years old) down for a nap just before leaving for the hospital. He had mentioned to his son that when he woke up he would have a new baby brother. Wesley was so quick, that is exactly what happened! His grandparents drove him to the hospital to meet his baby brother right away. What a sweet, sweet moment to capture this new family in their first moments together. Thank you for asking me to photograph this beautiful day! Love and hugs to all of you.
